I was speaking with a potential structural engineer who wants to work on the project and he thought possibly hanging the ribbon from the roof above was a good solution, which ties in well to the idea of rods. Think about the actual rod connections - how will they hold the slats in place? Do you need bolts/washers on either side? countersunk? How will the installation / assembly work?
Additionally, and to take as step back - why this shape / proportion in the slats? I'd like to understand and hear more purposefulness behind the specific aesthetic and size choices. Is there a patterning you're looking to achieve? If so, what are its dictating sources? What inspires the shape size texture etc.? Strictly function? Views? Patterns found in nature? Assembly method?
